Grace finally buried her father after taking care of him for so many years At thirty three she finds herself living in Peacock Tennessee with no higher education and no trade to keep her financially independent She goes about renting rooms in her house doing old people's laundry and cleaning their houses to make a living whereas her dream was to open a bed and breakfast Her brother convinces his best friend to go home to Peacock and rent Grace's guesthouse for a lot of money since she won't accept a dime of his money or her sister'sI have to say that this is one of those engaging books even though it doesn't have suspense and action in it There was a lot if heartbreak in this book I found myself crying in a lot of places Grace had a really miserable life what with the verbal and physical abuse she suffered at the hand of her father Add to that her best friend's losing battle with breast cancer during the span of the story and you have a book churning with heartbreak and misery Even Dillon had his own demonsGrace was a really strong woman to have suffered so at the hand of her father all her life and still be able to stick it to him even though he was dead True she closed herself off a lot of the time and used denial and avoidance as shield and armor But I guess it's to be expected considering what she'd been through Dillon had his own issues after returning from Ira and closed that part of himself off I really liked him though especially the dynamics between Grace and himAs for Promise and Steven their story is full of heartbreak and bittersweetness In my opinion they wasted a lot of the twenty years during which they loved each other all due to Steven's work as a cardiosurgeon Her losing battle with cancer was hard to read about and it made Steven a bear and a real asshole at times especially when he was dealing with GraceI loved Maxie and Jonah They were something all right Maxie's secret was rather shocking and explained a lot about how Grace was brought upWe didn't get to know Faith and Grant at all All we knew was that they were the perfect couple They were the only couple in the story who didn't have drama and heartbreakAll in all this is not a classic romantic novel It was messy to say the least It had a lot of misery suffering and heartbreak in it It is not an easy or uick read but definitely worth reading If you're looking for fluffy romance this is not the book for you But if you're looking for a book full of heart this one is definitely recommendedHappy reading

This was NOT the book to read before I went to bed last night as I cried so hard I have puffy eyes this morning I was expecting a bit of fluff romance about a slightly kooky woman whose high school crush returns home for the summer; what I was NOT expecting was that it would deal with serious life issues But once I started I couldn’t put it down even knowing that I’d end up that way ie sobbing I LOVED the friendships in this story maybe even so than the romance aspect Everything about their interaction rang true and felt so real it could have been people that I would know This is a great story for when you want of a uplifting yet sad romance NOVEL rather than a romance
