I clearly haven't lived yet because I haven't picked up this series This series is set mainly in Australia AND DID I MENTION AUSSIE AUTHOR and only takes place a little over a week which follows backpacker Gaby who was in a car crash that supposedly killed her brother a year ago However a guy called Rafa comes into town and tells Gaby that her past isn't what she thought was and that she isn't just a backpacker living in the forever sunny Pandanus Beach Nope she's actually than a hundred years old and totally knows how to kick some demon ass The Rephaim has totally grown onto me I picked up the series just prior to book 2's release and now here I am singing this series' praises and still helplessly stuck in Gaby's world You want an angel series that is actually badass and thrilling? Here you goI feel like I know each and every one of these characters better than the back of my hand Paula Weston excels at creating characters and not just main characters that are worth rooting for and are wonderfully well rounded Each character here has a story a backbone Gaby Rafa Jude Jason Daisy Mya Daniel Ez Zak etc and Weston doesn't let that go to waste Gaby just clicked with me from the get go She's witty sarcastic and she's got a uick tongue She's definitely developed since book 1 particularly mentally view spoilerAnd I honestly just love that despite she got her memories back she's the best of old Gabe and new Gaby I think her having amnesia was a good thing because it made Gaby relearn from a new perspective on life hide spoiler

doc ✓ Burn The Rephaim #4 ☆ Paula Weston

Fficially turned the Rephaim series into my favourite angel series ever The tension is palpable and the pacing is sharp making Shimmer the most fierce and kick arse book in the series so farI haven’t been this pumped for a series since those early Hunger Games days’ Inkcrush blog ‘Paula Weston has done it again Shimmer is another stellar instalment in this the best Angel themed paranormal series I’ve ever read and it’s so much heart palpitating fun that I don’t even mind being led back to that cliffhanger rock face again for the ending 55’ ALPHA reader ‘Beautiful writing witty dialogue badass characters and an intense and richly crafted tale what else can you ask for? If you want an angel series that will blow your mind away this is the one Now I only have one uestion where’s book 4?’ YA Midnight Reads ‘Paula Weston is the ueen of cliff hanger endings and this one’s going to blow yo Readers know how scary it can be to read the final book of series but rest assured that Burn is a thrilling action packed and satisfying conclusion to The Rephaim series by Paula Weston If you haven't yet started this series or maybe it's just now coming to your attention be sure to check out my spoiler free series review of the first three books Shadows Haze and Shimmer on my blog I give a brief overview of what these books are about which I won't do hereFor three books now we have all been not so patiently waiting for the answers to all of our burning uestions What happened ten years ago that caused a rift between twins Gaby and Jude? How and why did they lose their memories a year ago only to find their way back to each other? What is Rafa's role in this and how did he and Gaby hurt each other all those years ago? And ever since finishing Shimmer now that Gaby has her memories restored which girl will she be the old her or the new? Paula Weston has always paced her books so well Even though I was dying to know her characters' whole history she weaves a story that does not frustrate but reels you in completely So while these uestions and are answered thoroughly they're also handled thoughtfully and with care I have to say that one answer in particular hurt a lot while reading but as the story progressed I couldn't hold on to my anger Like Gaby I knew the stakes and what once happened in the past didn't hold a candle to everything that has transpired over the course of the series I'll talk about this a little bit in a secondThankfully I fell in love with Gaby even in this book not least because of the way she responds to getting her memories back She takes the time she needs to process them but she's also mature about it and doesn't wallow She's become such a strong character on her own without the past to weigh her down and she's grown in other important ways too softening those edges that were once sharp Her relationship with Rafa especially is put to the test I can't say that I'm at all happy with Rafa's behavior ten years ago and despite how long ago it was it feels fresh in my mind and Gaby's Yet we can't forget what's happened between them the last three books or in Gaby's case the last two weeks that a sexy and tender romance has built between them Gaby realizes that forgiveness and moving forward is so much important that what she has with Rafa is bigger than their history I loved it They are a strong pair one of my favorites and I like how every loose and uncertain string between them ties together All the other characters are present and accounted for as well Jude Gaby's twin brother is as protective and fearless as ever and I love the tight bond between the siblings Their relationship has definitely been a highlight of the series This final book has plenty of bloodshed and fighting especially in the second half when the battle that's been looming over the whole series takes place For those readers who expected a epic showdown in End of Days you won't be disappointed here I really love the way Paula brings the Fallen fathers to the Rephaim into the story and how she wraps everything up Though a little romance at the end with Rafa and Gaby would have gotten no complaint from this readerI will miss these characters especially my boyfriend Rafa tremendously I only just started the series in April of this year but I feel as if I've been with them for years I can't wait to see who Paula introduces to us nextThis review can also be found at Love at First Page

mobi Burn The Rephaim #4

Burn The Rephaim #4Ur mind I have absolutely loved reading Shimmer and can’t praise the Rephaim series highly enough’ Speculating on SpecFic ‘If there is one Aussie author I feel needs international recognition it’s Paula Weston After finishing Shimmer I can’t suppress the urge to tell everyone I know just how great a series the Rephaim books areThis series is one of my favourite urban fantasy reads and without a doubt my all time favourite angel series’ Fictional Thoughts ‘Full of suspense And you’ll love or love to hate all the characters’ Dolly ‘Late for dinner late for work late late late Thanks so much Paula Weston I picked up Shimmer and forgot everything elsea gripping tale of half angels demons love sacrifice and very cool violence wrapped up in one nicely written package’ Adelaide Advertiser ‘Fast paced and action packed this book doesn’t stop from page one’ Launceston Examiner on Shimmer I re read the entire series in anticipation of starting this final book in the Rephaim series It was probably the best idea I've had in awhile So much fun experiencing Gaby finding out she's not human all over again meeting Rafa for the first time that kiss the Hellhounds the trainingall of itAnd it kind of helped because this book was the hardest of them all on Gaby as she reconciles who she is now with who she was as Gabe and what all comes with that Especially where it concerns Rafa and what happened between them Through a series of flashbacks and memories we finally get to see what transpired between them the real reason Gaby stayed at the Sanctuary when she'd been all set to leave with Jude and the other Outcasts before that And it isn't prettyI really could have used Rafa in the here and now sense in this final book because for half the book the only time we saw him was in Gabe's misbegotten memories And I didn't like what I saw I had kept up hope that this rift between them was Gabe overreacting that it was her fault it had gone on so long And that last part is true but her feelings were warranted But they were given a second chance and GabyGabe isn't going to take that lightly eitherAlso not pretty? What Jude and Gabe did a year ago that resulted in them losing each other and their memories Trust has always been an issue with the characters in this series but that's the least of their worries right now Because that prophesied war between angels and demons that everyone's got their panties in a twist over? It's comingNone of this series has been particularly joyful except maybe when Gaby and Jude were reunited but this book was by far the most emotionally fraught at least for me It changed how I viewed some of the characters Not necessarily in a negative way; I just have a lot of feelings to sort out It'll probably take another series re read or two before I'm fully reconciled with everyone's new rolesReally thoughI can't believe it's over I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters Not even Mya P I'm pretty damn satisfied with this conclusionwith the answers we got with how the memory loss happened and how it was resolved with who the Rephaim are and what their purpose is That said I rarely read spin offs but I would SO read one set in this worldGIF it to me straight Like one of my favorite series ever kind of awesome
